The Enneagram in Business

What Type of Leader are You; by Ginger Lapid-Bogda – illustrates average and high-performance of each type in a number of leadership-related skills with practical suggestions for development. The best Enneagram in Business book I have ever read.

Bringing Out the Best of Yourself at Work by Ginger Lapid-Bogda – addresses the cornerstones of professional development with type-specific descriptions and development plans.

The Enneagram in Love and Work by Helen Palmer – excellent overview from Helen’s expert perspective. Explores work and personal relationships, strengths and pitfalls of all 45 Enneagram pairs – very interesting and helpful!

The Enneagram Advantage by Helen Palmer and Paul B. Brown – a practical book filled with insights and tips for each type to use at work and tips for working with each type.

The 9 Ways of Working by Michael Goldberg – insightful perspectives of each type in the workplace with emphasis on the use of wings as development tools.

The Enneagram

The Essential Enneagram by David Daniels – insightful, succinct 2-page descriptions of each type, excellent section of type differentiators that compares each of the 45 type pairs, test, and practices for growth.

The Enneagram by Helen Palmer – a breakthrough classic that offers an in-depth narrative of each type, which is excellent for people who have explored the Enneagram but still haven’t identified their type.

The Wisdom of the Enneagram by Don Riso and Russ Hudson – one third of the book describes the system as a whole with type specific chapters that provide a well rounded overview (good for new students).

The Enneagram Made Easy by Renee Baron & Elizabeth Wagele – for people new to the Enneagram, this is a simple, easy and lighthearted introduction.

The Enneagram of Liberation by Eli Jaxon-Baer – a no-nonsense, at times in-your-face book focused on getting you to wake up--proceed cautiously.

Leadership

What Type of Leader are You by Ginger Lapid-Bogda – so good, I listed it twice--see my comments under “Enneagram in Business.”

Leadership and Self-Deception by the Arbinger Institute – an exploration of the experience of falling into our habits and a process to maintain our authenticity.

Coaching

CoActive Coaching by Laura Whitworth, Karen Kimsey-House, Henry Kimsey-House, and Phillip Sandahl – a complete description of all aspects of the CoActive Coaching model, which is one of the models I use. It is written by the founders of The Coaches Training Institute where I completed my coaching and leadership training.

Coaching: Evoking Excellence in Others by James Flarety – another approach to coaching worth a look by the founder of New Ventures West coaching school.

Taming your Gremlin by Rick Carson – a helpful approach to working with thoughts known as gremlins, saboteur, limiting beliefs, inner critic, and many other names.

Teams

The Wisdom of Crowds by James Surowiecki – gives you the theory and science behind teams, and proves that the collective wisdom is better than the wisdom of any one individual.

The Wisdom of Teams by Jon Katzenbach – the first book on teams that I ever read; a modern business classic with metaphors that I still use today.

Team of Rivals by Doris Kearns Goodwin – a historical look at the team Abraham Lincoln put together for his cabinet, and how he used their competing views and interests to guide his decisions.

Conflict Resolution

Radical Collaboration by James Tamm & Ronald Luyet – a unique approach to transforming conflicted relationships into collaborative, productive partnerships. It changed the intention I bring to all sorts of relationships.

Nonviolent Communication by Marshall Rosenberg – an unbelievably simple and effective approach to transforming conflict through the way you speak and listen.

Sustainability

Cradle to Cradle by William McDonough – a truly innovative book – printed on a polymer rather than paper – by a truly innovative thinker that encourages us to redesign the very nature of design to create a sustainable world.

Learning for Sustainability by Peter Senge – The Fifth Discipline author joins others to explore approaches to build a sustainable world.

Presence by Peter Senge, et al – Peter Senge again, this time focusing on organizations, people, and society; an interesting look into their philosophy. I can’t help but think how much this approach would benefit from using the Enneagram.

Personal Transformation

Peace is Every Step by Thick Nat Hanh – the first Buddhist book I ever read which started me on a path of mindful awareness. An eloquent and practical approach to transformation.

The Mindful Brain by Dan Siegel – a fascinating and dense book that explores the science behind mindfulness and personal transformation. I’m still working on it.
